Comgrats on the new toy.. Has Jonathan got a deal for you, tell her Jonathan..

As Steve mentioned and I'm sure having already been using the D1x, you have some understanding about the battery issues. The batteries can be a bit of an issue, yea that the word. have a bunch, and charge often..

I still have a couple of D1x's that I intend to keep using.. But for now the D2x, I just got, has been really keeping my attention. Especially those new batteries, like the little Energiser Bunny, they just keep going and going etc.

I still think the D1x is a great camera, enjoy

Shure will, Ray. Will change out the original EN-4 for a www.digitalcamerabattery.com sometime in the future.

Those DCB batteries are much better than tyhe Nikon ones for teh D1 series, well worth the money as they are much cheaper as well.

The DCB battery is very heavy. I have one and I use it when I am in the boonies' (US term for the sticks) and there is no electricity at all. I have the 30watt version.

I would recommend that you convert an old EN4 to a Lion battery. See here: http://www.jknights.plus.com/JMK%20Photography/index_files/Self%20build%20EN4%20Lion%20replacement%20battery1.pdf

I have 4 Lion converted EN4s set aside here in UK that somebody promised to purchase but they let me down.
I have the small charger base for them as well so all you need is a 12v DC source to power the charger base. Yes you could use a car battery.
Total cost is £120 + P&P.
Check here for cost of P&P to your area. http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm

The nice part about Jonathan's Lion battery conversion is that it functions better and it looks the same. No additional cables and dodads hanging off the body..
